Hockey round-up St Ives 2 Norwich Dragons 1 ST IVES Ladies battled to victory over a strong Norwich Dragons outfit despite the absence of several key players. The Dragons drew first blood after a goalmouth scramble but this spurred Ives on, and they set about drawing level. Led by captain Vicky Leighton, and with the help of a vocal home crowd behind them, Ives turned the tide with and equalised before the half-time whistle. Central midfielder Juliet Moynan beat the keeper with a neatly threaded pass to Abby Holland, who finished in style. Much of the second half was evenly contested but Ives grabbed the important winning goal from a short corner with five minutes left, as Holland popped up for her second of the match. N ST Ives Men I suffered a disappointing 5-0 reverse at Broxbourne. Two Broxbourne goals from penalty corners and a breakaway goal were caused by concentration lapses, and Ives were stung into action. Darren Coles and Jamie Moise both went close, but Broxbourne stretched their lead in the second period, adding two further goals in the whitewash. St Ives II lost 1-0 in a closely-fought game against Wisbech III and St Ives V ran out 2-0 winners against St Neots IV. n HUNTINGDON Ladies II recorded a good 5-0 win over Wisbech III. Playing an attacking formation, Huntingdon put pressure on the Wisbech defence but were only a goal to the good at the break. The second half followed a similar pattern but, as the Wisbech defence tired, Hunts ran in four more goals to complete the win. Jen Leister hit a brace, and Alice Evans, Chanel Watson and Debbie Mitchell all netted for Huntingdon.
