Following a 5-3 victory over March Ladies last weekend, St Ives Ladies continued their winning form with a 3-1 win over nearby neighbours, Bishop's Stortford. University-bound Lydia Murray scored two close range goals in a fast and furious game to hand Ives victory. Bishop Stortford started the brighter, pressurising the defence, with some fluid moves around the St Ives goal. The defence held firm, allowing the home side to find their feet and move into a new gear. Once the pressure alleviated, St Ives dug deep and began to turn things around. The home side became more fluid in their play, moving the ball at a swift pace. Saints took the lead through Murray, but Stortford soon replied after a fast attacking move. A penalty stroke for the opposition was poorly taken, leaving the score at 1-1. St Ives maintained their attacking dominance and Juliette Fabb added the second before the third was slotted home. This fixture for both teams was excellent preparation for the start of the new East league season next week. St Ives will meet new faces after promotion at the end of the 2005/2006 season - and will face a lot of trips to Norfolk.
