East Midlands Winter League Open Match
FOUR tench were enough to help Dave Norville of Wades claim victory in Sunday's match at Raveley Drain, Factory Bank and Benwick.
With the weather cold some areas were difficult but most sections were won with reasonable weights. Norville found his catch in a generally poor section at Halfpenny Toll.
Team-mate Paul Wright was second from Factory Bank with a bream added to his roach catch while John Spalton and Jon Whincup finished in equal third place.
RESULT: 1 Dave Norville Wades 14lb 12oz, 2 Paul Wright Wades 11lb 9oz, 3= John Spalton Sensas Mark One/Jon Whincup Van Den Eynde 11lb, 5 Dave Corcoran Bourne 10lb 10oz.

THE weather was bitterly cold on Saturday and Mill Lode fished below par although fish were lost which would have improved the result.
Ian Benton was the winner - a late eel giving him 1lb 11oz - while Tim Lee and Ray Myring finished equal second.
RESULT: 1 Ian Benton Stanjay MG 1lb 11oz, 2= Tim Lee/Ray Myring 10.5oz.
PAUL Kilby continues to draw well - and on Sunday drew the peg furthest from the bridge on the Narrows to win easily with 19lb 4oz which included two tench plus roach.
There was a dead-heat for second between Andrew Kilby and Tudor Steeles, with Vern Edgley in fourth. The best all small fish weight was a creditable 7lb 2oz
RESULT: 1 Paul Kilby 19lb 4oz, 2= Andrew Kilby/Tudor Steeles 10lb 4oz, 4 Vern Edgley 8lb 12oz.
THE club match at Copalder was not a great success on a weekend of generally poor results.
Only sticklebacks could be caught and the match was won by Ken Matthews with 18 from Kevin Gaunt with 14 and Terry Fairbrother with 10.
Kevin, who had drawn the golden peg, was understandably disappointed.

Cancer Research and MacMillan NursesCharity Match
MARK Townsend could not have had worse weather conditions for his charity match at Ramsey St Marys.
A north east wind and bitterly cold conditions made catching impossible.
However, the event was a great success with the 24 anglers and donations achieving the sum of £951.80 for charity.
Mark has asked us to thank all those who helped, fished or donated to make his day so memorable.
