Mildenhall Town 0-0 St Ives Town

SAINTS visited Mildenhall on Saturday and continued to show the form that has seen them unbeaten in pre-season.

Ives entered the match in good goalscoring form after beating Burton Park Wanderers 4-1 in midweek, thanks to goals from Ozie Foster, Ricky Dear and a Carl Foreman double, but could not break through against their Ridgeons Premier opponents.

In an entertaining match, joint manager Jez Hall was able to use new loan signing Morgan Phillips alongside Dan Newman to fill the gap left by Will Fordham’s move to St Neots. Centre-back Phillips, newly-arrived from Rushden and Diamonds, looked comfortable throughout the match and dealt with the lively Mildenhall front line with few problems.

Saints had chances to open the scoring in the first period, when Lee Ellison and the returned Scott Fielding both went close.

The second half saw Saints make wholesale substitutions, which took some of the bite from the game, but still enjoying opportunities to score. Both Conor Washington and Foreman looked dangerous out wide, with Ellison and Ricky Dear pulling the strings in midfield.

However, the goal did not come, and the travelling Saints support had to settle for the draw.
