JOINT Godmanchester Rovers manager David Hurst, left in the picture, is delighted to have his nephew and captain Nicky Hurst back in the team.

Hurst the younger had major surgery early in October after falling ill following a training session with a complicated intestine problem – and the doctors told him he would be lucky to be training again by Christmas.

But the midfielder was back in the team for Goddy’s FA Vase game against Newport Pagnell Town last week and played his part in their win over Halstead Town on Saturday.

His uncle told the Hunts Post: “We have a good squad here so we got through without him but we did miss his leadership on the field. It’s great to have him back so soon.”
