HUNTINGDONSHIRE Fencers failed to make a significant impact at the Cambridge Winter Tournament over the weekend.

The two day competition organised by the Cambridgeshire Fencing Association covered Sabre, Epee and Foil competition and was held at Comberton College.

In the men's Epee Matt Dalton, Ivan Ward, Tim Bissell and Jason Presland all finished in the last 64, with Dalton going into the knock out stage seeded number nine. Dalton battled his way to the last 16 where he finished 12th.

Dan Tozer was the club's only sabre representative and made the knockout stages seeded 21st. Tozer won his first fight but was knocked out before the last sixteen to finish 22nd.

In the men's foil Joshua Coates and Tim Bissell both finished inside the last 64.

Tracey Coates and Barbara Scanlon-Carling fenced in the women's foil event. Scalon-Carling finished in the last 64, whilst Coates went into the later stages seeded number seven. She went on to win her last 32 fight 15-3 before losing 10-15 at the last 16 stage and finished 10th.
