HUNTINGDON Athletics Club had six runners at the Sandy 10 mile road race on Sunday. Shane Hunt led the club home in 36th in 64 minutes to win silver in the men's over-50 category. He was followed by Ian Marshall in 43rd and Martin Rowe in 62nd, and Julia McIntosh bagged gold in the women's over-35 section by being the fourth lady to finish. The St Neots Riverside Runners had 28 members taking part, with Phil Redden their first home in 26th place out of the 506 racers in one hour and two minutes. He was followed by Keith Pritchard in 42nd and Malcolm Pritchard in 48th. The Huntingdon BRJ Club were also at the Sandy race, and Steve Burton led the way for the club's eight runners in 104th on his debut run in 80 minutes. He was followed by Gilles Corby in 127th and Mike Gullis in 154th. Tony Cotton finished 223rd and was the first man over-70 to finish and Gillian Peck in 196th was the first lady runner for the club.
