There were bowler-friendly conditions in many places last Saturday, but that didn’t stop one Eaton Socon batsman piling up the runs.

Opener Matthew Sharpe cracked a terrific 127 to help the club’s 2nds to an 86-run success at Southill Park in Division One of the Hunts League.

Sharpe, who plundered 15 fours and three sixes, helped his team to 237-4 before they dismissed their hosts for 151, with Gareth Thomas claiming 3-44.

Ramsey 2nds look to be the team to beat in the top flight after extending their winning streak to five matches last Saturday.

They overcame Godmanchester 2nds by four wickets in a low-scoring affair, reaching a victory target of 86 despite 5-24 from opposition bowler Steve Marsh.

Warboys 2nds suffered their first defeat of the Division Two season when coming up 95 runs short at Barnack in pursuit of 230, but Buckden triumphed against Nassington by 20 runs as opener Alex Marsh hit a boundary-laden 78.

Jon Mews also claimed a half-century as their offering of 202 proved to be enough.

Local clubs are dominating in Division Three with Alconbury, Upwood, Sawtry and Houghton & Wyton occupying the top four positions in the table.

The former of those sides beat the latter last Saturday as table-topping Alconbury eased to a five-wicket success at Houghton & Wyton.

Martin Heginbotham (77) provided more than half of the hosts’ 148 before solid contributions from Riaz Anjum (31), Harry Cotton (30), Fahim Akbar (25no) and Neil Suckling (21no) helped the leaders to victory with nine-and-a-half overs to spare.

Neil Tuffin top-scored with 66 as second-placed Upwood breezed to a 107-run win against Hampton 2nds while Brian Chapman’s brilliant haul of 6-19 helped Sawtry to a five-wicket win at Newborough 2nds as they dismissed their hosts for just 81.

Brampton suffered what captain Andy Watts described as an ‘almighty collapse’ when being beaten by Peterborough team Falcon by 132 runs in Division Four. Only able to field 10 men, they slumped from 66-1 to 98 all out following the run out of Stuart Henderson for 49.

An unbeaten 69 from Tommy McCollin helped Little Paxton collect their first Division Five success last Sunday. Tim Simmonds also impressed with 4-21 in an 84-run verdict against Upwood.

Hayley Brown hit an unbeaten 59 as Buckden beat Houghton & Wyton by 39 runs at the same level while Oscar Bryden (43no) steered Godmanchester 3rds to a six-wicket win against Eltisley.
