HUNTINGDONSHIRE AC’s 2010 champions were crowned at the fourth and final track and field club championship meeting of the season.
It was the U11 competitors who grabbed the spotlight, with three young athletes setting four club records.
In the U11 Boys section, George Youngs came away with records in the 200m and high jump.
Youngs reduced the 200m club best by a hefty five seconds, while adding 10cm to the previous high jump best. He then set a new shot putt record in the first round before William Alden exceeded the new record in the second round, improving still further in the third and final round.
In the U11 Girls high jump, newcomer Harriet Bruce added an incredible 20cm to the previous record. The class performance of the meet came from Jonathan Edwards who hurled the U20 Men’s shot putt out past the 14m mark. Edwards, who ranks in the top 20 in the country, was a mere 10 cms down on his best.
