This wasnt just any win, said the clubs vice chairman, Wayne DuBose, this was the first time that Hunts AC, in its 13th season in the league, had ever won a Frostbite team race. And, the club now sits at the top of the league standings for the first time ever. John Uff led the 34-strong team in, finishing in sixth place, with scorers Lee Brooks, Alex Smith, Shane Hunt, Steve Church, Martin Rowe and Simon Hime all coming in the top 27. Never before has the last Hunts AC scorer finished as high as 27th. And all this was without the services of stalwarts Dave Connell (injured) and Luke Scott (exams), who finished one and two for the club in the first two races of the season. For Uff, Brooks and Hime, this was their first league race for Hunts AC. Ladies Eleanor Smith, Kelly Crawford and Rebecca Pedley ran magnificently to finish in fifth, ninth and 17th. Their efforts, combined with the mens, resulted in a huge 240-point win over Werrington Joggers. Previous league leaders Nene Valley Harriers slumped to eighth, while second-palced Cambridge & Coleridge could only manage sixth. With a lead of four league points, Hunts AC is in a strong position to win the title for the first time. Second and third place finishes in the two remaining races will be enough for that to happen. Meanwhile, 29 juniors turned out for club with James Barkshire the first home in fifth place and Ella Blake once again finishing as first girl out of the whole field in 12th. The team finished just four points behind winners Nene Valley Harriers and now move up one place to second in the league. Riverside Runners had a depleted squad at the event and finished in 10th place. Overall, the St Neots-based running club are now down in fifth in the Frostbite standings.
