HUNTINGDON Town manager Ricky Marheineke says his side won’t be ‘bullied’ by St Ives Town on Saturday like they were when they were beaten 5-0 at Jubilee Park on April 1.

Huntingdon are up to fourth in the United Counties League Premier Division having won their last four games with a 1-0 win at home to Boston Town on Saturday followed up on Monday night by a 5-3 win at Blackstones.

Now they go to Westwood Road for the part two of this season’s Huntingdonshire derby – or rather, part four if you include their two wins in the FA and Hunts Senior cups.

Declan Rogers scored a hat-trick at Blackstones where Huntingdon overturned a 2-1 defcit which saw them go in at half-time scratching their heads. But the manager told his players to keep doing what they were doing and the goals would come. They certainly did for Rogers. Niks Savalneiks and substitute Stuart Eason got the other two goals in an entertaining game.

Ollie Medwynter also missed a sitter from just yards out while Jamie Graham dinked a late penalty kick straight at the goalkeeper late on.

On Saturday they won 1-0 at Boston Town with the captain Ricky dear scoring the only goal.

“Although we have been winning games we haven’t been taking as many chances as we should have,” said Marheineke.

“But at Blackstones, in the second half, we had 17 shots and if we had won 10-3 it wouldn’t have been unfair. I was able to rest some playersd as well with Saturday’s game at St Ives in mind. Ben Seymour-Shove and Stuart Eason both started on the bench.

“And we will have Jamie Blackwell available for Saturday. He won’t let St Ives bully us like they did last time we played them.

“I am desperate to get the points on Saturday because we want to finish in fourth. Three points would give us a great chance of doing that.

“Four points from our final games should guarantee that...”

Marheineke, his assistant Teddy Dear, the club captain Ricky Dear - and numerous Huntingdon players - were at St Ives to watch the Saints beat Holbeach United 2-0 on Tuesday night. Huntingdon’s one remaining game after Saturday is on Tuesday night at Stewarts & Lloyds in Corby.
