HUNTINGDON Town Ladies kicked off the new season with a hard-fought draw at Ipswich Wanderers, in a re-run of last year's League Cup Final.
Two goals from new signing Sarah Gee had brought Huntingdon from behind to lead 2-1 with 15 minutes left, but a debatable Ipswich equaliser led to the dismissal of the Town captain and goalkeeper.
The flashpoint came when Ipswich scored following a corner. The assistant flagged that the ball had not entered play, but the referee awarded the goal, sparking protests from the Town players and two red cards from the referee.
Reduced to nine players, Anna Parks gamely pulled on the gloves for the final quarter-hour as Town battled to keep the point.
