HUNTINGDON Town Ladies took on Histon Hornets as both played for a place in the final of the Cambridgeshire County Cup on Sunday.
The visitors started the better team but did not make the most of their chances and Huntingdon took the lead against the run of play. Nadine Bowles latched on to a hopeful ball to lob the goalkeeper from the edge of the area and send the hosts in 1-0 ahead at the interval.
Histon came out strong in the second half and were soon in the leade after a Laura Spaxman brace. Minutes later Bowles drew Town level as they fought back and stung the Hornets to make it level after 90 minutes.
The hosts were strong in extra time but failed to put their chances away. Huntingdon battled hard but were off target in the penalty shoot out as the Hornets flew into the final.
