TOP ranked Natasha Scott will be representing Huntingdonshire Tennis Club in the prestigious Road to Wimbledon competition on 19 and 20 July.

The 12-year-old is rated number one in the county for her age and as such is an obvious choice to contest one of the largest junior competitions in British tennis. One which gives aspiring youngsters the opportunity to progress through to the world famous grass courts in SW19.

Should she progress from the county finals, the nationals are scheduled for the week 11 to 16 August.

The Huntingdon club provides weekly coaching for all ages and abilities (from two years old to adults). The programme has brought on a number of competition players who figure in district and area events.

The club has been working with a number of local schools over the last year and offered free coaching for five weeks, both in the school and back at the club.

It’s obviously been a success since more than 100 youngsters have taken up the sport and 30 are now participating on a regular basis. Twelve of them have been supported through additional lessons.

In close partnership with both Hinchingbrooke and St Peter’s School, who provided Year 10/11 sports Leaders to support the events, two major school competitions have taken place at the club with 16 teams taking part in the first round.

Barnabas Oley A and B went forward to the finals at the end of June to represent Huntingdonshire Schools Partnership against the four other partnerships in Cambridgeshire with the A string coming a close second to Sancton Wood.
