HUNTINGDON Stags Rugby Club is making its long-awaited move back to the Racecourse Ground.

The club is going home after 13 years of using Hinchingbrooke School facilities, and will have a brand new club house on the racecourse site.

Club president Neil Greatorex said: "After so many years effectively without our own club house, it is great for the Stags that we are moving back to our spiritual home.

"For many of our members it will be their first experience of having their own club house and grounds.

"With three pitches and a training area the club will now be on an equal footing with those clubs we are competing against.

"We are now looking forward to the new season with a new coach and new players arriving."

The Stags boast an ever increasing junior section with 230 kids from U7 to U15 level playing every Sunday, in addition to the three senior teams, and the move means that the club will be able to build on its recent growth.

Over the summer club volunteers have been working hard refurbishing the clubhouse, with new changing rooms, kitchen and bar.

This year the Stags were awarded the RFU Seal of Approval Club Mark accreditation and were runners up in the RFU President's Volunteers Award.

The grand re-opening of the Club House will be on President's Day, Saturday August 22. The premises will be opened by John Steele, the chief executive of UK Sport.

The President's XV will play the Club XV at 1.30pm.
