HUNTINGDON runners took part in the penultimate Frostbite race of the season at Bourne Woods in Lincolnshire on Sunday. The Huntingdonshire Athletics Club's Senior Team of 24 runners beat league leaders Riverside Runners to finish second on the day and move into third. Dave Connell led the club in 10th out of 389 runners with a time of 29 minutes for the five mile race. Their fastest woman to finish was Julia McIntosh in 119th in 36 minutes whilst Luke Scott led the 16 juniors with a seventh placed finish on their one-and-a half mile race. The BRJ club had 32 senior members and three juniors brave the clod wind and snow over the woodland trails. Pete Galpin again led the way for the club, finishing fifth overall in 28 minutes. Their first woman runner to finish was Teresa Dyer in 201st place and 39 minutes. Only three junior runners took part for the BRJ, with Peter Bottley leading the way in 37th. The senior team is eighth overall with one race left to run on March 1from the BRJ Club in Huntingdon, through the Oxmoor and Sapley and finishing on Oxmoor Lane. The race, at the Birmingham Indoor Games, was his first in over two years and his time sent him to the top of the club rankings.
