HUNTINGDON Piranhas won the B Final of the 2010 Senior Fenland League, reclaiming the trophy they held from 2006 to 2008.

HUNTINGDON Piranhas won the B Final of the 2010 Senior Fenland League, reclaiming the trophy they held from 2006 to 2008.

They outswam Chatteris, Ely, Bottisham and March, winning 13 of the evening’s 47 races with 15 second places.

At 14 and under, Piranhas won four of the five girls’ events and two of the boys’ events. Chloe Gibson won the 100m individual medley, backstroke and butterfly, and Lauren Woods won the 100m breaststroke. For the boys, Tom Russell won the 100m individual medley and the breaststroke.

Zoe Griffiths won in the 12 and under 50m butterfly and 100m IM; Tamara Richards in the open 100m butterfly and freestyle and Ryan Skeels in the open 100m freestyle, and the team won two age group relays.

There were second places for Matthew Davitt (2), Roger Mallet (2), Zoe Leech and Chelsea Prouten. Griffiths, Woods and Skeels (2) also added second places to their winning performances.

Head coach John Richards said: “The swimmers all spurred each other on to produce some great performances. This was an excellent all round team effort.”
