James Harris bagged both goals as St Ives 1sts collected their first victory of the new East Men’s League season.

Harris' brace earned the points as they saw off Bourne Deeping 2nds 2-1 in a Division Two North fixture last Saturday.

Ben Rowbotham and Jon Wildin both struck twice as the 4ths bashed Ely City 3rds 6-1 in Division Six North-West (South).

Mark Sadler and Ross Heylen also found the net in their side's second consecutive win.

But St Ives 5ths have started with two defeats at that level. They lost 5-1 to Ely City 2nds last Saturday with Rob Brand grabbing their goal.

The 2nds are also still waiting for a first point since winning promotion to Division Three North-West after being beaten 5-0 by Cambridge City 4ths.

St Neots 1sts had started the campaign with a win at that level, but their bubble was burst in their second outing last Saturday when going down 6-3 to Horncastle 1sts.

The high-scoring Lincolnshire side had hit 12 goals in their opening fixture and soon claimed two early goals in this contest.

Rhys Edwards pulled a goal back for Saints before the visitors struck twice more to take command.

Rob Mitchell reduced the deficit again early in the second half, but that was followed by a fifth Horncastle goal.

Brett Nunn struck for the second time in as many matches following a penalty corner to keep Saints in contention, but sloppy play led to a Horncastle clincher despite the best efforts of Iain Moor and goalkeeper Ben Seaber.

St Neots 2nds (5-1 at Wellingborough 1sts) and their 3rds (4-0 at the hands of Louth 1sts) were both beaten in Division Five North-West, but the 4ths ensured there was a success for the male section of the club to celebrate.

They beat City of Peterborough 7ths in Division Six North-West (South) as an Andrew Brooks brace earned a 2-1 win.
