HOUGHTON and Wyton had the points handed to them on a plate by Upwood in their Hunts Division 3 match on Saturday.
Visitors Upwood shot themselves in the foot after posting a good score, conceding a mammoth 52 extras with their bowling attack guilty of giving away 29 wides.
Batting first, Upwood hit 182 all out with David Drage (83) leading the way. Five other batsmen made good starts but could not progress beyond 20, with Pete Waughman, Terry Armstrong and Simon Claridge each collecting a pair of wickets.
Houghton skipper Greg Andrell’s knock of 54 not out capitalised on Upwood’s wayward bowling and an improving wicket, and the home side collected the points at 186-5, despite Neil Tuffin’s (3-28) bowling.
