ST IVES enjoyed more success at the prestigious Level One Robin Hood open meet held at Pond’s Forge in Sheffield last week.

Top swimmers from across the country competed at the 50m pool in the hope of gaining national times and rankings. St Ives Swimming Club’s 17 representatives secured 37 top-eight finishes, and the club finished 11th overall against the large city clubs.

Peter Todd came an outstanding second in the age 12 Best Boy category by winning an impressive three first places in the 50m fly, 50 freestyle and 100m fly. He also came second in the 200m backstroke and third in the 200m IM and 100m freestyle.

As well as his podium finishes, he took five other top-eight positions, and was ranked seventh in the overall Best Boy category.

Todd is now ranked top in the region in the boys age 12 category in 50m fly and 50m freestyle, and second nationally in the 50m fly and joint fifth in the 50m freestyle.

Also doing the club proud were Hanna Jaszkiewicz, aged 10, who came third in the 50m backstroke to go with her five top-eight placings. Eleven-year-old Ollie Fitt was third in the 50m backstroke, with four final spots, Tom Davis came was third in the 50m fly and fourth in the 50m backstroke in the boys age 15 category.

Other top-eight positions went to Ellie Watson, Michael Lardner, Hazel Stirling, Ellie Roberts, Catlin Roberts and Rebecca Hime.

The results came on the back of success the week before, when Ives secured second place overall in the Anglian League 2010.

The team finished just 10 points behind Boston A, but beat competition from West Norfolk, Boston B and Wisbech. St Neots finished in seventh overall.

The club amassed 10 victories, including the cannon relay team of Dale Brown, Cathy Thomson, Tom Davis, Hannah Milner, Peter Todd and Ellie Roberts.

Other wins went to Becky Hime (2), Thomson, Roberts, Peter Todd, Oliver Cook, Stanley Walters, Alice Kerr and Hazel Sterling.
