St Neots Ladies 3rds snapped a long losing streak in style last Saturday.

The local lasses had suffered 10 successive East Women’s League defeats before roaring to a 7-0 victory at Ely City 3rds in Division Four North-West (South).

Jay Dickenson and Chris Deeks both hit hat-tricks with Cerys James grabbing the other goal on a day when captain Ali Butler-Baines enjoyed a winning return to action after recently having a baby.

That triumph helped to make it a clean sweep of successes for the three St Neots female sides in action last Saturday.

The table-topping firsts maintained their two-point cushion at the Division Two North-West summit with a 3-0 win at Cambridge Nomads.

Tanya Sargent fired them into an early advantage which was doubled before the break by Georgia Grant.

Emma Ritchie sealed the points when bravely getting on the end of a cross from captain Alice Wright.

And St Neots 2nds continued their promotion challenge in Division Three of the Five Counties Women’s League by breezing past rock-bottom Broxbourne 4ths.

Emma Rowe led the onslaught with a four-goal haul as Neots hopped into second place in the standings. China Saywell, Charlie Churms and Lottie Knights completed the scoring.

Only a defeat for the 2nds prevented the St Neots male ranks from enjoying a full set of victories in the East Men’s League last Saturday.

The sole blot on the copybook was a 2-1 loss at Wellingborough 1sts in Division Four North-West. Archie Jacques did put the St Neots side ahead in that game.

Otherwise, it was success all the way with the 1sts providing the most dramatic of the club’s four wins.

Darren Coles completed a second-half turnaround with a last-gasp winner as they saw off City of Peterborough 4ths 2-1 in Division Three North-West.

The St Neots outfit trailed at the break before Bradley Forsdick levelled, and Coles then coolly converted a penalty flick after the ball had been stopped on the line by a foot.

Kevin Sequenza, Adam Horlock and Willem Zwetsloot struck for the 3rds in a comfortable 3-0 success against Ely City 2nds in Division Five North-West, while the 4ths and 5ths were both victorious in Division Six North-West (South).

The table-topping 4ths beat Ely City 3rds 3-1 thanks to goals from Danny Rowland-Cox, Sean Sanderson and Paul Stubbs.

Thomas Harris hit four goals for the 5ths as they racked up a 7-1 win at Saffron Walden 8ths. Sam Shemi struck twice and Philip Gentles also found the net.
