MAN-of-the-match David Land notched a fine brace as Ives swept Dereham aside 6-2 at the Ivo to retain second spot in the league.

Saints got the match off to the perfect start when Alfie Brennan fed Matt Chitty who fired home. Land doubled the hosts’ tally from a short corner and, as Dereham crumbled, Derrick Pope added a third. There was time for Ben Scarrow to get on the scoresheet as he made it four with a deft touch just before the break.

Saints continued to harass the Dereham defence, and Darren Coles found the net after a searing break down the left. Land popped home the sixth, and two late Dereham goals completed the scoring.

n Ives II lost 3-1 at March II, and despite strikes by Matt Keightley and Neil Tuffin, Ives III lost 3-2 at St Neots II. A goal from Oliver Milner and two from Simon Rees gave St Ives IV a 3-0 win over March IV, but St Ives V drew 0-0 at Bourne III.

n St Ives Ladies returned from a tough away day at Ipswich with a point following a 1-1 draw. There were few clear chances until Helen Clarke powered a drive home to give Ives a lead at the break, but they saw points slip away when the home side levelled from a penalty corner.

St Ives Ladies II dismissed neighbours Huntingdon I as Frances Whittaker-Wood, Theresa Jackaman and Tracy Bryden netted in a 3-0 win. St Ives Ladies III travelled well, winning 3-1 at Market Deeping, with Katy Burgin (2) and Val Crack scored.
