ST Ives ladies first team put the Norwich Dragons to the sword in the East Women’s League on Saturday – with Helen Clarke scoring twice in the 3-2 win.

The Dragons started brightly but the Saints soon got to grips with their Division One North opponents with Abby Holland finding the net for a 1-0 lead.

After having a goals chalked off for an infringement in the first half, St Ives began the second feeling slightly hard done by - but Kate Slater and Sheeley Read work tirelessly to down the right and in the middle. It was Juliet Moynan who found Clarke for her first and Carly McDonald for her second.

The men's first team knew their first Premiere B game against Cambridge University seconds was going to be a tough one - so will have been content to come away from the city with a 1-1 draw.

Star of the show was debutant Tom Hughes who linked linking well with the experienced Dave Land and Darren Coles in midfield as the Saints rallied to come back from an early Cambridge goal.

Late on in the second half James Lloyd scored the all-important equaliser with a flick high into the roof of the net.

St Neots men's second team won a memorable win against a strong Spalding side. They were 4-2 down with 15 minutes remaining but the Saints clawed it back to 4-4 and found a winner in the dying seconds.

Iain Moor scored a fine hat trick in the 5-4 win with Elan Anish and Danny Rowland adding a goal each.
