The biggest haul of goals arrived courtesy of the club’s 3rds, who roared into double-figures when collecting a first Division Five North-West win of the season.

Nathaniel Edwards spearheaded a 10-1 drubbing of City of Peterborough 7ths with a four-goal blast. Benjamin Joss added a hat-trick, Oliver Clinton bagged a brace and Alex Paddock also found the net.

But the finest individual scoring feat was provided by 2nds sharp-shooter Peter Liddle as they went clear at the top of Division Four North-West.

Liddle helped himself to five of the goals in a 6-1 rout of City of Peterborough 6ths. Michael England also struck as the 2nds extended their 100 per-cent tart to the season.

City of Peterborough opponents were also beaten as St Ives 1sts continued a fine start to life in Division Two North.

They accounted for that club’s 3rds with a 2-1 victory sealed by a James Harris strike, which provided the perfect finishing touch to a smart move. Alec Bryden had earlier seen his opening goal cancelled out by the hosts.

St Ives 4ths launched their Division Six North-West (South) challenge with a 4-0 win against St Neots 5ths thanks to goals from Simon Dew (2), Ben Rowbotham and Alexander Berry, but the club’s 5ths were beaten 5-0 by Cambridge Nomads 3rds in their first outing at that level.

St Ives Ladies 1sts picked up their first point of the East Women’s League season last Saturday – despite letting a two-goal lead slip.

The locals were involved in a 2-2 draw against Bedford 2nds in Division One North.

Jules Griffiths hit their opening goal before laying on the second for Jules Jones, but the visitors rallied to share the spoils.

St Ives 2nds did succeed in collecting their first victory of the campaign when prevailing 6-5 in an 11-goal thriller against Alford & District.

Fran Whittaker-Wood and Julie Drummond both bagged braces in the opening 20 minutes. A birthday goal from Sally King made it 5-3 at the break, while Hollie Coe struck in the second half as they remained ahead.

St Ives 3rds were beaten 1-0 by Sudbury 2nds in their Division Four North-West (South) opener.
