ST IVES IV headed to Skegness on Saturday to play Alford II on a day when most of the hockey was cancelled due to freezing temperatures.

Alford were able to name a full strength squad with substitutes, but Ives could only manage eleven players. Ten minutes from the start Ives were a goal down and a man down and conceded two more before the break.

The visitors were punished further just after the interval as Alford began to run away with the game. Precision passing and finishing that did not reflect their low league position saw the hosts rack up five second half goals to complete the rout. A further injury left Ives with only nine players on the pitch and a long trip home.
