Hot prospect Poppy Shipley enjoyed more success last Saturday.
The Hinchingbrooke School pupil triumphed in the Women’s Junior 15 single sculls at the Peterborough Junior Championships.
Shipley, from Brampton, won all three of her races – a heat, a semi-final and the final – at the Thorpe Meadows venue where a strong headwind made life hard for the competitors.
“It was quite a challenging day all round, but I was very pleased to come home with the gold medal,” said Shipley, who is part of the Great Britain World Class Start programme which aims to identify and develop rowers considered to be of future Olympic standard.
