HUNTINGDONSHIRE'S under 25 cricketers enjoyed a fine victory against Norfolk.

Hunts chased down their hosts' total of 169 with 15 balls to spare in a match limited to 40 overs each side by heavy rain.

Eighteen-year-old David Clarke (58 not out) was the star, following up his maiden century at senior level with a well-constructed half-ton in tricky conditions.

Craig Park contributed with 38 not out from 44 balls as the visitors eased home.

Bowler Michael Kearns, just 17, made a dream start to his first senior county match, claiming 3-23 in his eight overs.

Hunts skipper Paul Swannell won the toss and invited Norfolk to bat under heavy skies.

Basherat Hussain took three wickets for 19 runs as Hunts restricted Norfolk to 89-5.

But the hosts nearly doubled their total in the last 10 overs, with Daniel Tebble blasting an important 52 not out from 50 balls.

Hunts faced difficulty in their reply with the light detoriorating, and both openers back in the pavilion with the score on 45.

Clarke and Josh Brodie (22) kept the scoreboard ticking over.

And it was Clarke who proved the matchwinner, guiding Hunts home alongside Craig Park who hit the winning runs as they reached 171-3 with 15 balls left.

The performance was possibly Hunts' best of the season and leaves them with an outside chance of the league title with one game left.
