HAJAC Winter League STAN Binge won the final match of this year's series with a two pound-rudd doing the damage. The Sunday match was fished with sections at March, Ramsey Narrows and Ramsey St Mary's. The top three weights were incredibly close with just ounces between them. Stan, from his peg near the Narrows Bridge, caught three tench, the rudd and roach for 18lb 12oz. Ship Shape's Lester Pratt was second from the other side of the bridge with 18lb 10oz, which included tench, perch and an eel. The other framing weights came from March Bypass and were all made up of quality rudd, averaging in the region of two pounds. March's Paul Ringham had the best weight, with nine fish for 18lb 7oz ahead of Stanjay duo Steve Gordon and Tony McGregor. Team-wise, March were the winners on the day with 22 points, one ahead of Browning Stanjay A, with the two Hotrods teams further single points adrift in third and fourth. Last week's disastrous 10th-place finish for the Browning Stanjay A team proved too much to come back from and they finished in overall third behind the two Hotrods teams. The top individual over the series was shared by Hotrods captain Tim Nash and youngster Josh Pace with 10 points, while Stanjay's Brian Gibson was third, just one point behind. Cromwell Lake AFTER two weeks of sub-zero temperatures, it was much warmer but with a strong wind blowing down the lake. The car park end was the place to be and Steve Ashwell made the best of peg 35 to catch 21lb 12oz and win the match. His son Ricky was second from peg one and the only other person to weigh in was Ian Benton, drawn on peg 18. There will be 18 matches with the final on Saturday July 5. Last year more than £1500 was paid out in prizes, with the winner receiving £500. The top 18 anglers over the series will be invited to take part in the final. St Ives AS For the third week since the big bream catches, the match took place in the same area of Dolphin Meadow. The flow was ideal and the dull, but mild, weather gave at least a chance of the bream feeding again although the lack of colour in the water was not encouraging. In the event Colin Leach made it three match wins in a row with 12 bream for an impressive 54lb 9oz. The other anglers did catch although bites had to really be worked for and Chris Geeson had his first fish since his 100lb net to finish second with 35lb 6oz. Paul Ashcroft was third. RESULT: 1 Colin Leach 54lb 9oz, 2 Chris Geeson 35lb 6oz, 3 Paul Ashcroft 13lb. Ramsey AS IVAN Steels won Sunday's club match at Factory Bank with 6lb 4oz, ahead of Andrew Kilby and Troy Cunnington. RESULT: 1 Ivan Steels 6lb 4oz, 2 Andrew Kilby 5lb 15oz, 3 Troy Cunnington 4lb 3oz.
