HUNTS AC's Paul Hayball broke a club discus record that had stood for 38 years with his final throw as a junior. Hayball was competing for Team Cambridgeshire at a National Junior League Southern Premier Division match when he threw 43.54m. The distance added nearly four metres to his personal best and eclipsed Melvin Such's mark of 42.02m, set in 1971. It was Hayball's final event before he enters the Senior Men's age group next year. Hunts AC coach and Team Cambridgshire manager Nigel Faben was full of praise for the 18-year-old, who also picked up the B string shot put title. "Paul is a powerhouse with a solid technique, so a successful record attempt was always on the cards. Although this was an outstanding individual performance, he also helped the team out immensely by taking part in the hammer, discus, and javelin. He is a great thrower and a great team player!" Hunts AC's Christian Roberts and Emma Woodroffe also added wins for Team Cambridgeshire. Roberts cruised to the 400m hurdles in 55.8secs, and Woodroffe shook off injury problems to win the B string javelin.
