There were some fine individual scoring feats from St Neots Mens players last Saturday. Captain Danny Stevenson struck five times for the table-topping 2nds in Division Five North-West, but it was Ollie Dawes effort in a 6-0 win at Cambridge City 6ths which will live longest in the memory. Dawes delivered a goal-of-the-season contender as he lashed a rising shot into the top corner from the top of the D during a 13th successive victory for his side. St Neots 4ths eased to a 4-0 victory against St Ives 5ths thanks to Chris Bates (2), Phil Gillett and Michael Hornby at the same level while St Neots 5ths won 2-0 at City of Peterborough 9ths thanks to a second-half double from Sam Lawman. The 1sts earned a 2-2 draw against Cambridge City Vets in Division Three North-West. Darren Coles and Owen Edwards were on target. Two games in as many days, six points collected and 10 goals scored St Ives Ladies 1sts appear to have picked up from where they left off. The East Ladies League Division Two North-West leaders had a busy and successful start to 2016. Captain Helen Clarke hit five goals as they thumped Lincoln Lindum 2nds 7-1 last Saturday. Vicky Leighton and Holly Stride also struck. And they followed up with another success 24 hours later when beating Long Sutton 3-1 in a game which finally went ahead at the third attempt after a couple of pre-Christmas postponements. Clarke was again on the scoresheet along with Juliet Moynan and Emma King. Mandy Rogers converted a late penalty stroke to earn St Neots Ladies 1sts a 4-4 draw at Kings Lynn side Pelicans 1sts in Division Two North-West. Saints had earlier recovered from falling two goals down to lead 3-2 courtesy of two Paula Bingham strikes and an Alice Wright effort. The 3rds were emphatic winners as Alice MacMurray and Jay Dickinson hit hat-tricks in a 10-0 drubbing of Ely City 3rds. Chris Deeks (2), Sophie James and Ali Stubbs also found the net in the Division Four North-West (South) clash. St Neots Ladies 2nds were 6-0 losers at table-toppers Stevenage 3rds in Division three of the Five Counties League.
