THREE gymnasts from Huntingdon's world-famous Olympic Gym Club have been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Championships.

Luke Folwell, Louis Smith and Daniel Keatings will all travel to Stuttgart at the beginning of September after passing a set of three control competitions.

The trio will make up nearly half of the British squad, which also includes Sutton's Ross Brewer, South Essex man Danny Lawrence and Dudley pair Ryan Bradley and Kristian Thomas.

Folwell, Smith and Keatings will also compete in a three-way international against teams from Switzerland and Holland this weekend, before flying to Germany at the end of this month for the world final. This event will act as a selection guide for the Beijing Olympics next year.

Paul Hall, head coach at HOGC, said: "This is a tremendous achievement and will give the gymnasts an opportunity to compete with the greatest competitors in the world.

"Louis and Daniel have an opportunity to prove that they are amongst the best pommel horse workers in the business and must make a good impression in order to make their Olympic dream a reality."

* Gym duo Marissa King and Kayleigh Cooke are currently training at the National Centre in Lilleshall. The pair are hoping to earn selection this month to be accompanying their club mates on the trip to Germany and secure a berth on the GB World Championship Squad.
