I THINK we’ve got a really good draw for the next round of the FA Vase, and once again I’m confident that we can come through it.

Going away from home is always trickier, because there’s the risk of having to play on a ploughed field of a pitch, but Epsom and Ewell have lost seven times already this season and we should have enough to beat them.

If we get through that, we’d then be in the last 32 and could forget about the Vase until the end of January.

Against Burnham we played well, got three goals in each half and looked like scoring every time we went forward. I thought we would have too much for them, and it proved that way – we could have had more goals in the end.

Now we’re focusing back at the league, trying to make sure we can keep the pressure on King’s Lynn. They have a tough trip to St Ives this weekend, and we’re hoping they can do us a favour.

St Ives have three or four players in their squad who can really hurt teams, and they gave Lynn a decent game a few weeks ago. If they can put them under pressure, I think they could get something from the game.

We put a block on Rob Hughes’ transfer to King’s Lynn during the week, as we needed him for the weekend Vase game. Lynn made a fantastic offer, but it would have had to be a really fantastic offer to sell him to our title rivals.

If he inspires them and they beat us to the title by a point, the money they offered would be worth nothing.

I wasn’t surprised he got a decent reception when he came on against Burnham – he worked hard, played well and got a goal, so the fans will warm to him again I’m sure.
