OUR next three games, including the trip to second-place Irchester last night, are absolutely key for us.

Stewarts & Lloyds come to our place on Saturday then we go to Boston the following week.

And, if we manage to pick up three wins, I’m confident we can go and win our next ten, as we are then into a period of fixtures against teams near the bottom.

Our priority now has to be about trying to open up a nice gap at the top between ourselves and the chasing pack. If we can get ourselves eight or nine points clear after the same games played, I think we’ll be hard to catch.

What pleased me about the Yaxley game was that, despite being 5-0 up at half time, we went and got another eight goals in the second half. That really shows the players’ hunger.

Another pleasing thing has been we way we’ve been passing the ball. You can see a real appetite to go out and play football the right way, to get the ball down and pass it.

But I’m not getting carried away and will remain focused on our target of just winning this league, by a point if need be. We want to keep winning and want to stay unbeaten.

The fixture at Newport Pagnell was always going to be a tough one physically. If someone had offered me a draw after 30 minutes, when we had our goalkeeper sent off with no cover on the bench, I’d have gladly accepted it.

But, in the end, I thought we could have won the game as we had most of the second half.

Although we had three sent off, it wasn’t a bad tempered game at all, but I thought the referee was very, very poor on the night.
