St Ives Town Under 14s certainly started as they mean to go on last Sunday.
The side, managed by Paul Everest and Craig Jackson, roared to a 23-0 victory in their first-ever competitive victory.
Mihayl Mitkov led the goal charge with seven of the strikes in a Cambridge & District Colts League Division A drubbing of Isleham.
Ben Smith also bagged five goals with Zach Hope, Connor Lyden and Finley McCann all grabbing two goals apiece.
Isaac Everest, Lewis Jackaman, Archie Marriot, Charles Godsell and Myles Hamilton completed the scoring for a team grateful for the backing of kit sponsor Vindis and tracksuit sponsor A & B Taxis.
Another new St Ives Town side, playing at Under 13 level, also made a double-figures start of their own.
Matthew Lynn hit a hat-trick in a 12-0 victory against Fulbourn Falcons in Division A of the Cambridge & District Colts League, which also featured double-strikes from Jack Taylor and Kieran Thomas.
Dominic Fairholm, Joe Halls, George Hiller, Alfie Lowe and Harry Godsell were also on target.
