GODMANCHESTER Rovers will face a Cambridge United XI on Monday (August 2) in a match to raise funds for the town’s 800th anniversary.
GODMANCHESTER Rovers will face a Cambridge United XI on Monday (August 2) in a match to raise funds for the town’s 800th anniversary.
The match will see the Blue Square Bet Premier club send a representative team to face Rovers with half of the money going towards the celebrations in 2012 oragnised by Godmanchester Community Association, and the other half invested in the club.
The match kicks off at Bearscroft Lane at 7.45pm, with entry priced at �5 for adults, �2.50 for senior citizens, �1 for children 10 and over. Accompanied children under 10 years old get in free.
Stephen Spencer, chairman of Godmanchester Community Association and the 800 Committee, thanked the club for supporting the 2012 celebrations. He added: “This is a very small community with a great spirit, unlike other towns who have larger budgets. Godmanchester manages to use self help groups to make it a better place to live.”
