ROVERS are facing a bottom-five finish after this defeat at near-rivals Stowmarket.

Manager Karly Hurst admitted that the defeat at Stowmarket was largely self-inflicted because both first half goals came from free-kicks that were not defended.

On each occasion a high ball into the box proved Godmanchester's undoing, while at the other end Paul Bass failed to convert a couple of chances when the match was still all square.

"I was disappointed that we twice conceded sloppy goals whilst failing to accept chances at the other end," Hurst said.

The defeat at Stowmarket came on the back of a 2-0 Hunts Premier Cup exit against Potton in midweek, in which Rovers created plenty of chances but could not take them.
