St Ives Rangers Under 15s enjoyed a sweet success when lifting the Cambridgeshire Women’s & Girls League Cup – by sinking their biggest rivals for the first time.

They beat Cambridge City 2-1 in a showpiece clash staged at St Neots Town FC last Friday night thanks to a late winner from Ella Burnley.

St Ives earlier hit the front through Abbie Townsend, but City levelled moments later in the first half.

St Ives Rangers midfielder Molly Sutherland was named as player-of-the-match after a fine individual display.

The two teams meet again this Saturday in a crucial league clash.

Rangers are six points behind leaders City and need to beat them again to keep their title hopes alive.
