BAT'S THE WAY TO DO IT: Holywell Primary School produced their best performance of the season to win a girls' Year 5 Kwik Cricket tournament last week. The school's captain Lisanne Engelbrecht was named player of the tournament as the Huntingdonshire side defeated Peterborough school The Beeches in the grand final. A large group of parents and supporters gathered at the St Ivo Outdoor Complex, where Holywell posted a score of 250-0 in the final. The Beeches, defending a superb Kwik Cricket record, lost key wickets at vital times in their run chase, eventually falling 15 runs short on 235-4. Meanwhile, a violent storm halted the boys' competition after an excellent day's cricket. Bury Primary School were due to compete in the final after negotiating their way through the group stage, but the weather meant the title was split with The Beeches. A narrow group stage victory against Matley had propelled Bury into the final, but the boys were left disappointed as the weather broke.
