There was double delight for three different players at the Huntingdonshire Bowling Federation Indoor finals last weekend.
Hemingfords star David Peak was among the trio to collect two titles. He was always in control against Buckden’s John Hignett as he claimed a 21-12 victory in the Men’s Senior Singles.
And a Mixed Pairs success soon followed as he joined forces with Godmanchester’s Kathy Snitch to see off the duo of Jane Baldwin and Trevor Dighton by a 24-11 margin.
Baldwin was a winner though as she got the better of long-time friend and rival Jean Whittamore in the Women’s Senior Singles while Snitch was also victorious in the Women’s Rinks event when teaming up with Edith Gibbard and Nicky Verlander to great effect.
Ed Elmore went into the finals weekend with hopes of a hat-trick of honours, but he also had to settle for two gongs. Elmore teamed up with Warboys clubmate Tom Swannell to win the Men’s Pairs and also featured in the triumphant Mixed Rinks trio with another Warboys man, Lee Swannell, and Angela Kenny of Buckden.
The one that got away from Elmore was the Under 25 Open Singles in which he was beaten by St Neots bowler Rebecca Moorbey.
Steve Farrant provided success for the host club Huntingdon IBC by winning the Men’s Singles. He pulled away from Tom Swannell in the closing stages of a tight clash to emerge with a 21-15 success.

Farrant was on the losing side in the Men’s Rinks final as he, Dighton and Bernie Shannon were on the receiving end of a heavy defeat at the hands of Ian Swannell, Lindsay Swannell and Lewis Baker.
There might have been a repeat of the personnel involved in the Women’s Singles final in 2014, but there was a very different outcome this time around. Heather McKillop took her revenge over Sandra Gentle with a 21-14 win.
Gentle was also beaten in the Women’s Pairs along with partner and fellow St Neots bowler Janine Edwards. Pat Porter and Janice White of Fenstanton took the honours 18-9.
The winners now advance to represent Hunts in the English Bowling Federation National Finals at Newark in April.
