JON Hoggett saved the day with a late equaliser to give Saints a well-deserved point on Saturday, but manager Marvin Johnson will be wondering how his charges failed to take all three.

St Neots outplayed Corinthians, wasted numerous chances, hit the woodwork and then had to battle to get something from the game.

Saints started the game quietly but must have been confident following the superb 4-1 win at Stotfold in mid-week.

Declan Rogers had the first chance to give the home side the lead and fired over, before goalkeeper Jon Chatfield was brought into action at the other end. Keith Thomas then crashed a volley onto the bar, but four minutes later the visitors took a shock lead. Saints lost the ball in midfield and the subsequent cross was bundled home by Mick Coles.

St Neots responded quickly, with Thomas having a shot saved by Tom Cross. In the final minutes of the first half Saints penned the visitors into their own half, creating and wasting several good chances. Cross denied James Hall, Luigi Rocco headed over and Thomas found woodwork again.

To add to the frustration, Rogers failed to convert an open goal and then put a free-kick over the bar. Ben Dyett then saw his effort hit a post from a Luke Knight corner.

Hall missed an early second-half chance as St Neots began to dominate again. Rogers had a shot deflected for a corner and Knight's shot was blocked on the line. Hall then missed another chance to equalise and was eventually substituted by Matt Kenneford.

Sixty seconds after the substitution St Neots levelled when Rocco crossed from the right, the ball finally falling to Knight, who scored with a low shot.

Dyett then volleyed over the bar and Cross pulled off a smart save from Rocco.

With just two minutes of normal time remaining the visitors broke clear and Mick Coles notched his second goal of the match.

Justice was finally done when, deep into added time, Hoggett rose to head home a point-saver.
