St NEOTS CC entertained Sawtry II in the Huntingdonshire Cricket League Four at The Common on Saturday and after a disastrous start fought back to win the game.

Saints batted first on a greenish wicket which was quickly exploited by Sawtry's experienced seamer Shaun Hubbard who ripped smartly through the top order.

Hubbard (4-21) bowled a consistent line and length for 12 overs as Saints struggled to post a decent total. Determined batting lower down the order by Glen Daniels (36) and Paul Childerley (35*) plus a very useful knock by David Wilson (23) at number eleven saw the home side to a respectable 164 all out.

Sawtry's reply started in almost identical fashion to the home side as they lost three early wickets with hardly a run on the board with Daniels (2-18) proving his worth with the ball after his batting heroics.

After a repair job by Sawtry Captain James Wright (26) that seemed to give the visitors some hope it was Saints' Adam Staughton (3-36) who promptly blew away the middle order to leave Sawtry well short of the total at 125.
