GALLERY: McKillop is the star of the Hunts Bowling finals
HEATHER McKillop won all four of the finals she contested at the Huntingdonshire Bowling Federations 2012 County Indoor Bowling finals over the weekend.
McKillop, who bowls for the Houghton & Wyton club, won the women’s singles, women’s senior singles, women’s pairs and mixed pairs at Huntingdon Bowling Club.
McKillop will now represent the county at the English Bowling Federation National Indoor Championships in Newark in April, along with - among others - men’s singles winner Wayne Bradley of the White Hart Warboys club, who also won a second title as a part of the men’s rinks team which included Nicky Brett and Rob Elmore.
Bradley beat Brian Brett, also from the Warboys club, in the singles final – but Brett looked in total command at the half-way mark leading 17 shots to three.
Bradley though succeeded in winning an end and put up a long jack to which he found his line and length and pulled himself back to just one shot down. Playing a long jack with just one point needed for the win, Brett fired and missed allowing his club-mate to take a one-shot victory.
Eleven-year-old Chloe Brett is likely to be the youngest player to have qualified for this year’s national finals after she won the mixed rinks title with teammates, her father Nicky Brett, and Simon Leader.
Another youngster going to the finals will be 14-year-old Ross Martin from Sawtry who beat Papworth Bowling Club’s Katie Webb 2-1-18.
