KIMBOLTON and Catworth sprang a surprise result in Tucker Two by beating Fordham by three wickets. The victory over second-placed Fordham revives hope that Kimbolton can begin a climb to safety with just three games remaining. Fordham batted first and got off to a good start as their opening pair of Gavin Harding (38) and Mark Silcock (14) clocked up the runs. But the Kimbolton bowling pair of Martin Moore (5-34) and Lee Ingram (5-23) soon found their rhythm and matched each other wicket for wicket, spurring each other on to keep all but three of the Fordham batsmen out of double figures. Their fruitful spells restricted Fordham to 95 all out. Ingram was also the top man for Kimbolton with the bat, hitting 32 not out from the middle of the order. Openers Marcus Jones (12) and Simon Lambert (23) had helped make inroads into the Fordham total, but the next three batsmen were dismissed for a total of nine runs. The momentum seemed to be slipping away until Ingram's arrival, and his assured knock helped Kimbolton to 98-7 for a valuable win.
