Godmanchester made their FA Cup exit at the hands of fellow Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division rivals Newmarket Town, when they conceded what proved to be the winning goal five minutes from the end.
The visitors became the first team to score against Goddy this season when they scored early doors, but the home side equalised through Jason King four minutes later. Newmarket regained the lead just before the interval but while sub Jake Pinner squared the scores on 77 minutes, Newmarket struck late to settle the tie.
“We could have done with the money,” said Goddy joint manager Neville Nania, “but to be fair Newmarket worked hard and probably deserved to shade it.”
