Huntingdonshire U13s beat Holland U13s by 7 wickets HUNTS U13s began their season with a convincing victory over the touring Dutch national side. The home side put Holland in to bat first, a decision which paid off as the Dutch struggled to score on a slow wicket. The fielding side had a good start, when pace bowler Andy Beech took the wicket of second batsman Ekelmans for a duck on his way to recording figures of 4 for 12. Opener Worries made 37 and Cruyters made 25, but the tourists were restricted to 97 for 5. Hunts got off to a slow start, losing Alex Martin and Taylor West to some accurate bowling, to leave them in a bit of trouble at 19 for 2. Callum French injected some pace at the crease, making a valuable 43 before captain Jonathan Carpenter contributed 18 as Hunts made the total with two overs to spare. Cambs & Hunts League Division One Ramsey 1st XI beat Camden 1st XI by 2 wickets and 6 runs DESPITE losing their opening two batsmen to Camden bowler D Cousins for 10 runs, Ramsey went on to post a total of 125 for wickets off 48 overs. James Markland's 28 not out was the highlight of the innings. Camden's opener went for a duck to D Carlaw but the second wicket didn't fall until Camden were on 39 runs. Three wickets for 10 runs got the Ramsey bowling attack going and Carlaw, M Kay and G De Kock took three wickets each to limit Camden to 119 runs all out. Cade took the remaining Camden wicket. Division Two Waresley 2nd XI beat Wisbech 2nd XI by 7 wickets WISBECH batted first, opener Claxton making a bold stand with 55 before he was run out. Clare batting at three added 49 to put the home side in an excellent position, Ramsey bowler Greenfield offering the toughest resistance with figures of 3 wickets for 27 runs off five overs. Waresley stepped up to crease needing 186 to win, all-rounder Greenfield showing his mettle with an excellent opening 51. Fensome added a further 19 to the total before Blows hit 59 to put Ramsey in the driving seat. A 25 not out from Price ensured the victory for the visitors as they made the required total for a loss of only 3 wickets. Yelling beat Balsham by 31 runs YELLING batted first, their innings boosted by 59 from opener I Reed before he was caught out. C Clarke picked up the pace after the loss of two wickets, putting on 18 before A Johnson registered 41 not out. Chasing Yelling's total of 170, Balsham got off to a good start with 42. The impressive bowling of A and L and Johnson limited the visitors to 139, however, as they both took 4 wickets. L Johnson registered the best bowling figures in Yelling's win with 4 for 23 off 12 overs, with five maidens. * Hunts CC League Division Five Warboys 2nd XI beat Huntingdon by 7 wickets WARBOYS got their season off to good start with a convincing win against Huntingdon. Electing to field first, Warboys took two wickets in the first over after an excellent display of bowling by captain Martin Croucher. Further good bowling from the teams young members, seven of whom are under 15, limited Huntingdon to just 60. Chris Hoy picked up 3 wickets for 6 runs in a fine spell. Warboys reached 25 before the fall of the 1st wicket. Two further wickets fell before, with the rain starting to come down, Mick Hoy secured the victory for Warboys.
