St Ives manager Jez Hall talks about David Cobb’s move to St Neots - plus Ives’ pre-season fixture info

ST IVES TOWN joint boss Jez Hall has backed “outstanding” defender David Cobb to be an immediate hit at St Neots next season.

Utility defender Cobb, 30, sealed his switch from Westwood Road last week after being one of Ives’ standout performers in the second half of the season - helping them to both the Hunts Senior and UCL League Cup finals.

Hall said: “I can see him doing very well there. He attacks from full-back, travels with the ball really well and his dead ball delivery is fantastic as well.

“There’s a financial benefit for him to move up and play at the level above [Step 4], so good luck to him.

“He played very well for us from Christmas onwards and was an outstanding player for the last few months of the season.”

Meanwhile Ives, who will be holding their AGM tomorrow night (Thursday) at 7pm, have announced that outgoing club secretary Greg Sarath will be replaced by website and programme editor Simon Clark.

Saints have withdrawn from United Counties League Reserve Division Two and plan to play their second string in the Cambridgeshire League next term.
