THE Wednesday Series at Cromwell Lakes was almost a stroll for Stanjay's Brian Gibson who made the most of his draw on peg nine to win the evening match with 34lb 10oz of carp and bream. Paul Hendy and Terry Hill drawn on the pegs on the river bank took second and third places and Jason Roslyn was fourth.

THERE are just four rounds to go before the final on 4th July and competition for places in the 15-man match is close. Saturday's match saw difficult fishing with very hot conditions and the fish spawning. Terry Hill was the winner from peg 11 with 21lb 7oz

There is no night fishing but dawn to dusk provides a mixed fishery with small and large carp, good bream and tench and rudd, roach and perch. SIX Islands at Decoy provided a scorching venue for Sunday's club match. The result was incredibly close with Andrew Kilby finishing just eight ounces ahead of Dave Thornton.

WINDY conditions failed to catch out Audrey Abbott from Huntingdon who won last weeks Golden Rod match with 63lb 7oz of carp caught on the tip. Dave Elliott was second and Dennis Holliday was third.

HOT temperatures did nothing to split Tony Watling and John Hurley who finished in equal first place with 5lb 12oz. Aron Holloway in third caught 4lb 11oz of rudd and a few crucians.

In Sunday's King of the Pond Challenge, the result was close although weights were low. Kings Arms provided the individual first and third place anglers in Max Hill and Mark Gilbert but Horseshoes Spitfires A took the team win with a more solid team performance.

SIMON Easey made it look just that with a massive haul from Snake Lake in round three of the Teams of Four that was fished on Sunday. His weight was almost double that of Karl Chaplin in second place.

St Neots Town Youth Football Fishing Fundraiser

LAWN Farm Fisheries was the venue for the first fundraising match for St Neots Town Youth Football. There was an excellent turn out of 24 anglers who drew for places on Honeysuckle Lake. With the fish feeding well the anglers enjoyed a good days sport in the bright sunshine.

The winning weight went to 12-year-old Matt Rothery with 25lb. Alex Simmonds was second with 18lb 10oz, Ray Willard third and Tony Davis fourth.

RESULT: 1 Matt Rothery 25lb; 2 Alex Simmons 18lb 10oz; 3 Ray Willard 16lb 10oz;

4 Tony Davis 12lb 10oz

The event was sponsored by Kevin Hull of Premier Plus in St Neots and all tackle prizes were donated by Dean Rothery. A massive �800 was raised on the day to help provide equipment for the teams for the coming season.
