ST IVES comfortably beat Wellingborough away to avenge their early season home defeat. The Ives won 3-0 on Saturday, the Doughboys to inflict their first defeat in three games. Tim Quy gave Jez Hall's men the advantage in the final minute of the first half. Scott Fielding made it 2-0 for the visitors after 52 minutes with his 18th goal of the season and Carl Foreman wrapped up the three points eight minutes later. St Ives goalkeeper Rob Mackney did not have to make a save all game as the Westward Road side strolled to victory. Wellingborough played the game defensively but could not hold back the Ives. "I welcome the three points from what was a comprehensive display and leaves us fifth in the league", said St Ives manager Jez Hall. "We're looking forward to next weekend when we play Long Buckby away in the FA Vase. We should be at full strength by then and ready for another big day on the road.
