Town picked up their first victory since January when triumphing 1-0 at Wisbech Town in the United Counties League Premier Division last night. Jordan Brockett struck the only goal 10 minutes into the second half at the Fenland Stadium to snap a 36-match run without a win. It was also a first triumph for boss Scott Witherall, who succeeded Ian Edge at the helm last month. McIlwain said: Im absolutely over the moon for Scott, the players and everyone connected to the club. It was like an FA Cup final to see us win and I know how much it meant. The lads battled for everything and it is great to have those three points which have been such a long time coming. Hopefully this can be the result that really gets our season going. Huntingdon remain bottom of the Premier Division table but are now just one points behind Wellingborough and two points adrift of Harrowby. They meet those two sides in their next two games. Eynesburys league season could also do with a boost. Rovers slipped to a fourth successive Premier Division defeat when going down 1-0 to Peterborough Northern Star at Hall Road last night. Only a series of fine saves prevented a heavier loss for Martin Fields side as they slipped into the bottom five in the standings. Two local sides are in action tonight. St Ives Town can climb back into the Southern League Division One (Central) play-off places with a victory at Aylesbury United while Godmanchester Rovers can return to second spot in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division by beating Mildenhall at the David Wilson Homes Ground.
