HUNTINGDON Town boss Paul Swannell is raring to go ahead of the start of pre-season training tomorrow (Thursday). Swannell, who joined Huntingdon from March Town in May, is keen to look at any new players in addition to the signings he has already made. He said: "I'm looking forward to seeing all last year's players back at training as well as some of the new faces I've already recruited. "But we also want some new faces to come along so we can have a look at as many faces as possible. "Having only joined in the summer I don't know the squad too well so everyone starts with a clean slate as far as I am concerned." Swannell is aiming to get the players ready for their first big test - a pre-season friendly against Conference side Cambridge United on Monday 24 July. Meanwhile, Town have appointed a new reserve team boss. Paul McSweeney, 47, will look after the second string for the forthcoming season. He said: "Paul and myself seemed to hit it off when I attended the interview and I'm delighted to be here. "I love football, it's my passion and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in with the Huntingdon lads." A former England Schoolboy talent, McSweeney says some of the squad will be in for a rude awakening when they report for training. He said: "I firmly believe my team will win the reserve league and I will continue to believe that until it is mathematically impossible. "I've got great confidence in my own ability. Any players who think they can just turn up and not fight for the shirt will be in for a big shock." Players should report for training at Jubilee Park tomorrow (Thursday) at 11.00am.
